The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) operating in Balochistan has claimed that its fighters had captured 17 personnel of Pakistani security forces during ‘Operation Hereof 2.0’. The organization says that after initial investigation, 10 people were released, while 7 soldiers are still in its custody.
BLA spokesperson Jiyand Baloch said in a statement issued to the media that the 10 arrested people were released because they were identified as Baloch or associated with local police and levies forces. According to the organization, this decision was taken keeping in mind the ground situation, local identity and interest of the Baloch people.
According to The Balochistan Post, the statement said that the remaining 7 people PakistanHe is attached to the regular units of the army and has been kept in the custody of the organization. BLA claimed that these soldiers were produced before the so-called Baloch National Court, where action was taken against them.
The organization alleged that these soldiers are accused of being involved in cases like military action against the civilian population, enforced disappearances and alleged genocide against the Baloch people. BLA says that the accused were given a chance to present their side, evidence was presented and the verdict was given after recording the statement.
BLA has said that its Command Council has given Pakistan 7 days time to start the process of formal prisoner exchange. The organization claims that this proposal has been made under the principles related to international war.
According to the statement, if the Pakistan government takes practical and official initiative within the stipulated time, then these 7 soldiers can be released in exchange of Baloch prisoners. The organization also said that such proposals were made earlier also, but there was no discussion from Pakistan’s side.
The BLA has warned that if no progress is made within a week then the death sentence awarded by the said court will be executed.
