बंगाल में ओवैसी और हुमायूं कबीर की बन गई जोड़ी, ममता बनर्जी का कुछ बिगाड़ पाएंगे क्या? – owaisi humayun kabir alliance west bengal election mamata banerjee ntcpmr
Humayun Kabir once described himself as Asaduddin Owaisi of West Bengal. Humayun Kabir, who was in the news and controversies for building Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, is now going to contest the West Bengal Assembly elections along with AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi in West Bengal – this has been confirmed from both sides on the occasion of Eid.
in hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi And in Murshidabad, Humayun Kabir announced the proposed electoral alliance. Asaduddin Owaisi will make the formal announcement and outline the electoral alliance at a joint press conference with Humayun Kabir in Kolkata on March 25.
After being suspended from Trinamool Congress Humayun Kabir Had formed its own separate political party in December 2025. Aam Janta Unnayan Party. And, even before forming his own party, Humayun Kabir had announced to contest the elections with Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM and present a tough challenge to Mamata Banerjee.
At that time there was a lot of confusion regarding the statement of AIMIM spokesperson Syed Asim Waqar, but later AIMIM west bengal President Imran Solanki distanced himself from the spokesperson’s statement. Making serious allegations against Humayun Kabir, Syed Asim Waqar had clearly denied any such possibility. Syed Asim Waqar described Humayun Kabir as close to BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, and described Humayun Kabir as a part of Shubhendu Adhikari’s political system. Syed Asim Waqar said, the question of going with Kabir does not arise… His proposals do not match our ideology at all.
AIMIM West Bengal President Imran Solanki claimed to have talked to Humayun Kabir. On being reminded of Syed Asim Waqar’s statement, Imran Solanki had said, ‘Yes, we know what Waqar had said, but at the moment this is not the official stand of the party.’
Owaisi and Humayun Kabir together in Bengal
Eid prayers were offered for the first time at Humayun Kabir’s proposed Babri Masjid grounds in West Bengal. On this occasion, apart from districts like Birbhum, Nadia and East Medinipur, a large number of people of Muslim community from Jharkhand had also reached Murshidabad.
Despite organizing the Eid namaz, the founder of ‘Aam Janata Unnayan Party’, Humayun Kabir could not be present in person due to being busy. Humayun Kabir spoke on the phone to the crowd gathered there – and at the same time announced that Aam Janta Unnayan Party will contest elections on 182 seats of the assembly. Humayun Kabir also told that there is an alliance between Aam Janata Unnayan Party and AIMIM, and AIMIM will contest elections on eight seats.
On the other hand, in a program on the occasion of Eid in Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi addressed the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee Targeting Humayun, he has announced to contest the elections along with Kabir. Asaduddin Owaisi said, our effort is to strengthen AIMIM, to strengthen our voice. There is Mamata Banerjee’s government in West Bengal, there is 30 per cent population of Muslims… There, certificates of about five lakh backward classes, including Muslims, were cancelled… These people get votes in the name of secularism but when AIMIM talks about share, they feel pain.
Putting Mamata Banerjee in the dock, Asaduddin Owaisi said, ‘There are many stories of injustice.’
Humayun Kabir’s eyes on Bhawanipur and Nandigram also
Humayun Kabir’s Aam Janata Unnayan Party has made Poonam Begum its candidate for Bhawanipur assembly seat. Mamta Banerjee is currently the MLA from Bhawanipur, and BJP has given ticket against her to the leader of opposition in the assembly, Subhendu Adhikari.
As a counter strategy, Trinamool Congress has made Pabitra Kar, a close aide of Shubhendu Adhikari, its candidate in Nandigram. Shubhendu Adhikari is currently the MLA from Nandigram. And, along with Bhawanipur, he is also contesting from Nandigram.
Along with Bhawanipur, Humayun Kabir has nominated Shahidul Haq as the candidate from Aam Janata Unnayan Party in Nandigram. In this way, all three parties are in the fray on both the high profile seats of Bhawanipur and Nandigram.
Humayun Kabir himself is going to contest the assembly elections from Rezinagar and Nauda seats of Murshidabad district. It is worth noting that Humayun Kabir has left his Bharatpur seat, from where he is currently the MLA.
The manifesto of Aam Janata Unnayan Party for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be revealed on March 28. That is, three days after the formal announcement of alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi. Voting will be held in West Bengal on April 23 and 29, and counting of votes will take place on May 4.
Muslim voters of Bengal and Trinamool Congress
According to the 2011 census, the number of Muslims in the population of West Bengal is about 27 percent, but according to Asaduddin Owaisi and some reports, at present it is around 30 percent. Muslim voters are considered to play a decisive role in Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum, North and South Dinajpur of West Bengal and many parts of South Bengal.
After AIMIM won 5 seats in the 2020 Bihar elections, Asaduddin Owaisi had similar hopes in the West Bengal elections, but was disappointed. Not even a single seat was found, the vote share was also negligible – now after Humayun Kabir’s entry into the fray, if Asaduddin Owaisi is able to show any impact together, then it would be called a miracle.
Whatever happens later, like other political parties, Humayun Kabir claims that after the independence of the country, for the first time, the reins of governance in West Bengal will be in the hands of a Muslim Chief Minister, or a Deputy CM from the Muslim community.
What harm will they be able to do to Mamata Banerjee?
Humayun Kabir feels that the proposal to build the new Babri Masjid in Murshidabad is an emotive issue, and the issue may influence the political discourse before the West Bengal Assembly elections. He claims, if our party forms the government, then for the first time a Muslim will become the Chief Minister, but even if we do not form the government, we will have so much numerical strength that no government will be formed without us.
But, Mamata Banerjee does not care about such things. Anyway, if there was any concern, then why would Humayun Kabir be suspended on the issue of Babri Masjid?
Like Humayun Kabir and Asaduddin Owaisi, Mamata Banerjee also understands the political importance of the occasion of Eid. While addressing the people of Muslim community gathered on Red Road in Kolkata after Eid prayers, Mamata Banerjee not only took her agenda forward, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Also taken under wraps.
BJP is making infiltrators an issue in the West Bengal elections, and is guaranteeing to drive them out if it comes to power. Mamata Banerjee hits back at BJP on the issue of infiltrators, and calls Prime Minister Narendra Modi the ‘biggest infiltrator’.
Targeting Prime Minister Modi, Mamata Banerjee, while addressing the Namazis on the occasion of Eid, said, When you go abroad, you shake hands with the leaders… and talk about friendship… This is your choice, and I respect all countries… But when you return to India, suddenly the Hindu-Muslim dispute starts… and people start being called infiltrators.
On the pretext of SIR i.e. Special Intensive Revision, Mamata Banerjee is saying, ‘You again talk about removing names and terming people as infiltrators… I would say that you and your government are the biggest infiltrators.’
BJP is also focused on its agenda, and so is Mamata Banerjee. Be it boycotting the inauguration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, or terming Prayagraj Mahakumbh as ‘Mrityukmbh’, Mamata Banerjee always tries to stay connected with her Muslim voters.
Mamata Banerjee’s fellow leaders are also taking her agenda forward. A separate uproar has arisen over a statement by former West Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha. Chandranath Sinha has described Lord Shri Ram as the god of North India – Mamata Banerjee’s reaction to the slogans of Jai Shri Ram has already been seen.
In the 2021 assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee faced a tough challenge from Indian Secular Front leader Abbas Siddiqui in Furfura Sharif. In 2026, Humayun Kabir has joined hands with Asaduddin Owaisi to challenge Trinamool Congress – Asaduddin Owaisi has been seen in the last elections – the impact of the issue of Humayun Sharif and his proposed ‘Babri Masjid’ remains to be seen.
