Meerut Crime Branch has exposed GST fraud worth crores of rupees and arrested two accused from Punjab. It is alleged that fake transactions worth about Rs 70 crore were shown through fake firms. In this way the government suffered a revenue loss of about Rs 7 crore. Police have recovered two laptops and four mobiles from the possession of the accused.
CO Suchita Singh said that a case was registered in Bahsuma police station. The investigation of this case revealed that the accused created fake companies in a planned manner. GST fraud of about Rs 7 crore was done through them. In the initial investigation, the total amount of fake transactions has been shown to be around Rs 69 crore 99 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gurdeep Singh, resident of Fatehgarh Sahib Punjab and Dharmendra Kumar, resident of Fatehgarh Sahib Punjab. Both of them were arrested on 19 February 2026 from the office located at Amloh Road, Mandi Govindgarh on the basis of information and location of the informer.
Investigation revealed that the accused took Input Tax Credit (ITC) by issuing fake bills without actual supply of goods or services. Companies were formed through fake Aadhaar and PAN. Tax liability was reduced by showing less sales in GST return. Wrong HSN codes were used, fake e-way bills were prepared and GST refunds were taken by showing exports on paper. Apart from this, only paper transactions were shown by doing circular trading between the companies.
According to the police, digital evidence is being preserved in the recovered laptop and mobile. The seized devices include laptops and mobiles. Police are interrogating both the accused and gathering information about other firms and possible associates associated with this network. Further legal action is going on in this entire matter. CO Meerut Suchita Singh said that the matter is being investigated.
