A sub inspector posted in Munger, Bihar has been arrested and sent to jail in the case of murder of his wife. The matter is of Safia Sarai police station area of Munger, where Madhu Kumari died due to a bullet fired from a service revolver in a rented house late on Saturday evening. After the incident, initially it was said that it was suicide, but the family of the deceased called it murder and made serious allegations against Sub Inspector Chandan Kumar.
The police conducted the post-mortem of the body under the supervision of a three-member team of doctors and later the body was handed over to the family members. The family of the deceased is a resident of Vidhan police station area of Samastipur district, while the accused Chandan Kumar is a resident of Bettiah. the family members Munger Madhu was cremated in the crematorium.
Based on the statement of the deceased’s father Ranjit Kumar, a case was registered at Safia Sarai police station. Taking action, the police arrested the accused Sub Inspector Chandan Kumar and sent him to jail.
The story started from love marriage
According to family members, a love affair was established between Madhu and Chandan during their studies. After Madhu’s continuous persuasion, the family agreed to the intercaste marriage and both of them were married on 7 February 2025.
After the marriage, the family members came to know that during his posting in Bariyarpur police station, Chandan had a relationship with a female sub-inspector. There were frequent disputes between husband and wife regarding this matter. Madhu constantly told Chandan to distance himself from that woman, due to which the fights increased.
A few months ago, the female sub-inspector was transferred to another police station, while Chandan was removed from Bariyarpur and posted in Safia Sarai police station. About three months ago, Madhu had come from her maternal home and started living in Safia Sarai and had gone home and returned ten days before the incident.
The incident happened after a dispute, the family made serious allegations
According to family members, there was a dispute between the two on the day of the incident, after which the firing incident came to light late in the evening. The family alleges that due to his relationship with a female sub-inspector, Chandan shot and killed his wife with a service revolver.
The father and other family members of the deceased have demanded strict action from the police against the accused. He says that this is a case of dowry death and the accused should be given strict punishment.
In this case, Munger Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood, while giving information over phone, has confirmed the arrest of Sub Inspector Chandan. On the statement of the father, a case has been registered under Dowry Death Act and investigation has been started.
Service revolver seized, FSL investigation continues
Police have seized the service revolver used in the incident and the FSL team has collected all the evidence and started investigation. The role of the female sub-inspector, whom the family members are accusing of illicit relations, is also being thoroughly investigated.
It is being told that there was a love affair between Madhu and Chandan for about 11 years. Initially the family was not ready for marriage due to different castes, but after getting the job, Madhu convinced the family and the marriage took place.
Family members allege that Chandan’s behavior changed after the job and he used to put pressure on Madhu to do the job. Now the police is investigating the entire matter from every aspect and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence.
