Development work has been intensified through ‘Niyad Nella Nar Yojana’ in the remote areas freed from Maoist influence. 17 departments are working together in this scheme. Under this, the benefits of 25 welfare schemes and 18 community facilities are being extended to the people. Roads, electricity, water and health services are being provided in the villages. The government’s aim is that in the areas where earlier there was the echo of guns, now the sound of development should be heard.
Large network of roads and bridges in Bastar
According to PTI, the Governor laid special emphasis on the infrastructure of Bastar region. He informed that Rs 1,109 crore has been approved for 146 road and bridge projects in Bastar. Many of these projects have been completed, while work on others is ongoing. Better road connectivity has made access to trade, education and health services easier. The villages which were earlier cut off, are now being connected to the main roads.
Expansion of mobile towers and 4G services
Communication systems have been strengthened in Maoist affected areas. A total of 728 mobile towers have been commissioned. Apart from this, 449 towers have been upgraded with 4G service. This has increased digital connectivity in remote villages. Now people are able to avail the benefits of online services, education and government schemes. Communication facilities have also reduced the distance between the administration and the public.
Improvement in education and health services
The Governor said that special attention has been given to education and health in Naxal affected areas. 31 new primary schools and 19 sub-health centers have been approved. More than 11 thousand children and women were vaccinated under ‘Niyad Nella Naar Scheme’. This has improved maternal and child health. The government says that the real benefits of development will be achieved only when education and health are strong.

Women empowerment and forest rights
Under ‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’, about 69 lakh women are being given Rs 1,000 every month directly in their bank accounts. So far Rs 15,596 crore has been distributed in 24 installments. Apart from this, the state ranks first in the country in distribution of forest rights leases. More than 4.83 lakh individual and 48,251 community forest rights pattas have been granted. With this, tribals and forest dwellers have got legal rights.
