The formalities of the alliance between DMK and Congress for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections were completed today. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge finalized this election deal by talking to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on phone on Wednesday morning.
According to this agreement, Congress has been given 28 assembly seats in the state. Congress was initially adamant on the demand of 35 seats. Apart from this, Congress will also get one Rajya Sabha seat under the alliance. Discussions were going on between the two parties for the last few days regarding the selection and number of seats.
With this strategic decision, the ruling coalition has made its position clear compared to the opposition camp in the electoral battle of Tamil Nadu. Its official announcement will be made soon through a joint press conference.
