This first list of the party includes the names of a total of 243 candidates, which cover 7 out of 15 major municipal corporations of the state. Of these, maximum 90 candidates have been declared for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Election schedule and voting process

According to the state election schedule, large-scale voting will take place in Gujarat on April 26. During this period, voting will be held for 34 district panchayats, 260 taluka panchayats, 84 municipalities and 15 municipal corporations. The counting of election votes will be done on April 28.

According to the State Election Commission of Gujarat, more than 4.18 crore voters will be eligible to use their franchise for 9 thousand 992 seats in this election. This election is considered very important from the point of view of local governance in the state.

Process related to nomination and OBC reservation

These elections are being conducted under the revised rules of Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation. Due to these new rules, the process of delimitation and reorganization of wards has also been done in many districts.

Election notification will be issued on 6 April. The last date for filing nominations for the candidates has been fixed as April 11. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on April 13, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names till April 15. With this phase of the electoral process, the atmosphere of local body elections in Gujarat has completely heated up.
