Hindu saint Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati said that those who rule the country today consider the cow as ‘property and not a mother’, and this view needs to be challenged. The saint made these comments during his visit to the ashram of sage Jamadagni situated on the banks of river Gomti in Jaunpur.

Swami Avimukteshwarananda Has started a yatra for cow protection. He will also hold a public meeting in Lucknow on March 11.

Avimukteshwaranand said that a big campaign for cow protection will be launched in Lucknow on March 11 after the expiry of the 40-day deadline given for declaring cow as ‘Mother of the Nation’ and imposing a complete ban on cow slaughter.

He CM Yogi Adityanath Also invited to join his March 11 movement.

Targeting the state government, Shankaracharya said that in Indian culture and Sanatan tradition, cow has been traditionally worshiped as a mother, but the present government is treating it only as property. He said, ‘In such a situation it has become necessary to challenge the ruler.’

He said that the land of Jaunpur is associated with Jamdagni and Parashuram, and the tradition of cow service has long been associated with the banks of river Gomti.

He said that Jamadagni had served and protected a cow at the same place, and when a king took it away by force, Parashurama raised his voice against the injustice and brought it back.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that it is the duty of the saints to speak the truth and oppose injustice to protect the society and religion.

He said that he has started his journey from Varanasi to Lucknow as part of the cow protection campaign and will reach the state capital on March 11 to formally launch the next phase of the cow movement.

Before leaving Varanasi, he visited several temples including Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple and Chintamani Ganesh Temple, where he recited Hanuman Chalisa and Bajrang Baan.

Swami Avimukteshwarananda said that the public representatives have failed to arouse the sentiments of the people regarding cow protection, and the issue should be taken up seriously in the Parliament and State Assemblies.
