क्या हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा का वीडियो चुनाव आयोग के संज्ञान लेने लायक नहीं है? – assam bjp cm himanta sarma video controversy election commission opnm1
Assam BJP is projecting Himanta Biswa Sarma as a hero. Assembly elections are going to be held in Assam along with five states of the country in April-May this year – and before the elections, there is an attempt to project the same hero image that has been seen in Himanta Biswa Sarma’s gestures, statements and government policies.
In the video shared on social media with the caption ‘point blank shot’, Himanta Biswa Sarma was shown aiming with an air rifle. And, there are pictures of some people on the target of ‘Point Blank Shot’, who were seen wearing caps like those of the Muslim community. this video Assam BJP had shared it from its official account on social site
BJP has deleted the video, but it has no regrets. BJP says delete the video, the matter is over.
Even in October 2025, Assam BJP had shared a similar video, on which the Supreme Court had issued a notice. And, that too was deleted – the point is that in that video also the Muslim community of Assam was targeted, and AI was used in both the videos.
Congress Along with this, Trinamool Congress is also an attacker, and Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress has demanded the Supreme Court’s intervention in the matter – the question is that despite all this, does the Election Commission not think that this matter is worth taking cognizance?
What was in the video?
Chief Minister of Assam in the opening shot of the video Himanta Biswa Sarma Seem completely focused on the target. In between, there are some scenes which seem to have been created with the help of AI. In the next scene, a target is shown, where there are two men wearing beards and caps. A man wearing a vest and cap is sitting, in whom if you pay a little attention the image of Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi can also be felt. These targets are hung on the wall in the form of photographs, above which is written – NO MERCY.
At the end of the video, Himanta Biswa Sarma is shown with a pistol in his hand, and before that many things have been written in Assamese language. For example, ‘Why didn’t you go to Pakistan?’ And ‘There is no apology for Bangladeshis.’
Regarding the video, Assam BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sarma says that there is nothing to say in it, because the post has been removed. Assam BJP social media Convenor Biswajit Khaund also did not respond, except to say that the team has many young members – last year too, an AI-generated video was posted by the handle of Assam BJP.
In the case of that video, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to social site X and the Assam unit of BJP on October 7, 2025. A petition has demanded the removal of AI-generated videos. Through the video, an attempt was made to convey the message that in the event of BJP’s defeat in the upcoming assembly elections, Assam would ‘go under the control of Muslims’, which was shown in a very insulting and derogatory manner. The video was later deleted.
Opposition attacks on video
Congress says that removing the video is not enough. Congress MP from Kerala and organization general secretary KC Venugopal has described BJP’s video as an open appeal for genocide, and said that it cannot be ignored by calling it troll content. KC Venugopal has appealed to the judiciary to intervene in this matter. The Congress leader alleges that this kind of message shows the poison being spread from above.
congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet It is alleged that the Chief Minister has been shown firing at Muslim men and words like POINT BLANK SHOT have been used. Describing the video as promoting hatred and violence, Supriya Srinet has asked whether the courts and institutions are sleeping while the situation is moving in a dangerous direction? Supriya Shrinet has also shared that video of BJP.

The Assam unit of Trinamool Congress has described BJP’s video as a ‘display of hatred’, and alleged that this is an attempt to make hatred the new normal. TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghosh has described BJP’s video as a clear incitement to criminal acts and violence, and has demanded strict punishment.
Trinamool Congress has demanded immediate intervention of the Supreme Court and warned that due to all this, communal harmony in Assam may be in danger.
Is this matter worthy of suo motu cognizance?
The opposition has demanded action from the Supreme Court and related institutions on the BJP video episode. In fact, the message conveyed in the video is taking forward the views of Himanta Biswa Sarma in which the Mia community of Assam is targeted. Miyan is used in Assam for Bengali-speaking Muslims who are said to be native to East Bengal. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has publicly said that the Mia people have to be troubled. Ways to cause trouble have also been explained, like if Mia is a rickshaw puller then she should be given less fare.
At the very beginning of the election year, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called a press conference and announced that identity and development would be the main focus in the upcoming assembly elections. He said, the government is fully prepared to identify illegal immigrants and expel them from the state… Unless the interests of the indigenous population are protected, development of the state is not possible.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said, protecting the interests of the indigenous population of Assam is the priority of the government… There is no meaning of progress without security… The process of identification and expulsion of illegal immigrants will be strictly implemented.
Does the Election Commission never pay attention to the videos of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma repeatedly saying such things, and the videos of Assam BJP giving similar messages again and again?
1. Will the Election Commission take suo motu cognizance of such AI-generated videos in which gestures of hatred, fear or violence are being made against a particular community (here Muslims)?
2. This video has been posted from the official social media handle of BJP’s Assam unit (now deleted), so will the Election Commission take any action by issuing a notice?
3. Will the Election Commission also issue a clear order that such a video will not be sufficient to be deleted after it is made and posted – and action can also be taken depending on the purpose, intent and possible impact of the video?
4. If such videos are made and shared in the coming elections, will the Election Commission consider it a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and take necessary action?
