A meeting took place in America today, about which very few people had any idea. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani held a meeting with President Donald Trump in Washington on Thursday. Zoharan Mamdani posted a photo of the two leaders in the Oval Office on social media, writing, “Had a productive meeting with President Trump this afternoon. I look forward to building more homes in New York City.”

According to people familiar with the matter, the meeting took place at around 1 pm. Many of Mamdani’s advisors were also in Washington. The meeting came just two days after Trump mentioned Mamdani in his State of the Union speech, in which he called him ‘a good guy with bad policies’. The president also criticized the mayor’s decision to hire emergency snow removal workers after the recent blizzard.
Trump said, “They want people to shovel snow. They have a lot of losses, but if you apply for that job, you have to show two IDs and a Social Security card.”

Despite differences in policy, both the leaders have maintained very good behavior in the past also. After Mamdani’s election last year, the two met for what both described as a constructive conversation.
Trump said at the time, “We just had a very good meeting, a very good, very productive meeting. We have one thing in common, we want this city of ours that we love to do very well.”
Zohran Mamdani also said something similar. He then said, “I enjoyed my time with the President. I enjoyed the conversation. I look forward to working together to provide affordable access to New Yorkers.”
