इलेक्ट्रिक टू-व्हीलर पर सरकार की बड़ी राहत! PM E-DRIVE योजना से कंपनियों को लौटाए ₹1,182 करोड़ – PM E DRIVE Scheme Government Disburses Rs 1182 Crore for Electric scooter motorycle

The number of electric vehicles in the country is increasing rapidly, especially people are showing more interest in electric two-wheelers. The biggest reason behind this is the subsidy given by the government. The PM E-DRIVE scheme of the Central Government has now started showing visible impact on the ground. Due to this scheme, not only are the customers getting relief from low prices, but the sales of electric two-wheelers have also increased rapidly across the country. The government has so far returned thousands of crores of rupees to the vehicle companies, so that the common man can get vehicles at affordable prices.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has refunded an amount of Rs 1,182.32 crore to vehicle manufacturers under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-Drive) scheme till February 5, 2026. This money has been returned in lieu of the discount given on those electric two-wheelers which are registered after April 1, 2024. Till now 14,39,224 electric two-wheelers have availed the benefit of this scheme.

Under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, the government has fixed a total budget of Rs 1,772 crore. Its objective is to provide incentive amount to 24,79,120 electric two-wheelers by March 31, 2026. The special thing about this scheme is that the customer gets a direct deduction in the form of subsidy at the time of purchasing the car. Later the government returns this amount to the vehicle manufacturing companies.

Maharashtra is at the forefront

Maharashtra is at the forefront in purchasing electric two-wheelers in the country. Here 2,71,849 vehicles have received subsidy. 1,57,534 electric two-wheelers in Karnataka and 1,43,914 in Tamil Nadu have come under this scheme. 1,15,246 electric two-wheelers in Uttar Pradesh and 94,004 in Rajasthan have benefited, making these states included in the top five.

PM E-DRIVE scheme has been implemented in the entire country. This scheme is not limited to big cities only. People living in rural areas can also take advantage of this subsidy while buying an electric two-wheeler. This facility is available in all states and union territories.

However, under PM E-DRIVE scheme, tax exemption is not given to vehicle companies. But they get separate support from the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme being run for automobiles and auto components. Under this scheme, incentives ranging from 13 to 18 percent are given on components related to advanced automotive technology.

Vehicle manufacturers included in this scheme are required to follow the phased manufacturing program. Under this, it is gradually made mandatory to manufacture essential parts of electric vehicles in India only. The objective of the government is to develop a strong and self-reliant electric vehicle industry in the country.
